Date : 3 May 2008 (Saturday)
Venue : Tuba Island, Langkawi, Kedah
Time : 8.00 am sharp
Bus will depart from Bella Vista Hotel at 6.30 am
All participants will depart from Jetty Point, Kuah at 7.00 am
PRIZE PRESENTATION DINNER
There will be a prize presentation dinner after the race. Details as follows:-

RACE CATEGORIES & DISCIPLINE
The race will be divided into two categories:-
1) SLOW & STEADY (BEGINNERS)
Please see Equipment List.
All other equipment will be provided for this category.
2) FAST & FURIOUS (PROFESSIONALS)
Please see Equipment List.
Both categories will comprise of a two (2) member team consisting of either men, women or mixed teams. Participants must be aged 18 years and above. This one day multi-discipline endurance race will include activities such as:
· Kayaking
· Trail Running
· Mountain Biking (Fast & Furious category only)
· Possible Caving (Fast & Furious category only)
· Surprise Elements to test the wits of the participants
Note : Life jackets will be provided for all water activities
Total Challenge
Total distance covered for each category is as follows:
Slow and Steady: 10km - 15km
Fast and Furious: 40km - 45 km

§ There would be 20% discount of entry fee for Fast & Furious racers who had participated in WLC for more than two years. The offer is limited to 20 people only!
§ For corporate category, teams will be competing under the name of company they are representing. This would be and ideal getaway for you to spend time out of the office and compete among your corporate competitors without being intimidated by professional athletes!
INSURANCE
Insurance coverage for the race is optional.
Insurance coverage for the race day (3 May 2008) is at RM5.00 per person. It covers RM15, 000.00 for accidental death and permanent disablement and RM2, 000.00 for medical benefits for accidental injuries.
If you wish to subscribe for insurance coverage, please include the payment together with the entrance fee.

Note: All compulsory equipment WILL be checked on the skills test day. The committee has the right to refuse any entries from any teams should any of the compulsory equipment is missing or of unsatisfactory condition.

Note: The first aid kit is recommended minimal requirement list. Participants should assess their own needs to see what other items they would require. You can also purchase a complete set of the items listed above on 2 May 2008 at a cost of RM30.00

1) All team members must sign in prior to the start of the race during the designated check-in times on the evening before the race day and/or on the morning of the race as well as have their gear checked and approved prior to the start of the race.
2) All participants must sign the appropriate race waivers as provided by WCSB at the time of check-in. Any participants who are under 18 years of age are not eligible to enter this challenge.
3) All teams must compete with as “team name”, however WCSB reserves the right to have the team change its name should it not be appropriate and/or in conflict with any other Team’s names or any event sponsors.
4) All participants must wear the race number/bib as provided by WCSB over/on their clothing at all times during the race with the number and sponsor name(s) visible.
5) All participants and teams must race with the mandatory individual and team equipment that has been approved at the gear check.
6) If a team missed a checkpoint or if a team member chooses not to do an activity, a time penalty will be incurred.
7) Access to the race course and transition areas are restricted to racers with race passes and/or race numbers/ bibs.
8) The use of any prohibited equipment will result in team disqualification. Any equipment required for “mystery tests/roadblock” and/or water transport will be provided. At the pre-race meeting all teams will be provided with race details, directions and maps. Each team captain must be present at this meeting.
9) All team members must travel together at all times during the race and cannot be separated by more than 20m. All team members must start, travel and finish the race together. (Failure to do so may result in penalties or disqualification).
10) All teams will travel with a race “Passport”. This passport must be time stamped at all checkpoints and special test areas in order for the team to have an official finish, unless otherwise instructed. It is the competitors’ responsibility to ensure they have their passport stamped and returned to them before continuing to the next checkpoint.
11) If one team member cannot continue the race for any safety reason then the other team member must stay with that person until WCSB staff member is present and they cannot continue with the race.
12) Any contact and/or assistance to a team competing in the Wilderness Langkawi Challenge by support staff, friends, family, spectators or WCSB staff will result in disqualification from the race. Assistance by other competing teams is acceptable.
13) For safety reasons there will be cut-off times for teams to reach each checkpoint and finish the entire race. If teams do not meet these cut-off times they may be asked to withdraw and return to the Base Camp.
14) No towing systems are allowed during the biking section for Fast & Furious category.
15) Checks on compulsory equipments will be conducted by WCSB marshals at any time before, during or after the race.
16) No food will be provided on the course. There will only be water stations.
17) Race results for the top finishers will be announced after the race during the awards ceremony.
18) The ranking of the race is determined by the Wilderness Langkawi Challenge Jury after the penalties and bonuses have been awarded.
19) The Race Organiser reserves the right to disqualify a team or person for not following the instructions of the Race Organiser or any race official / marshal. The Race Organiser’s decision is final.
20) Failure to abide by the race rules and regulations including but not limited to those specified in this race entry form will result in automatic disqualification.
21) Rude behavior or arguing with Race Officials and Marshals will result in automatic disqualification.
22) The Race Organiser reserves the right to change the rules or the course at any given time.
23) In order to qualify for the prize money, there must be a minimum of 5 teams registered in each of the men’s, women’s or mixed category. In the event where the minimum registration requirement per category (men’s, women’s or mixed) is not met, the prize money will be revised at the Race Organiser’s discretion.
Wilderness Langkawi Challenge 2008
Date : 3rd May 2008 (Saturday)
Venue : Pulau Tuba, Langkawi, Kedah
Placing strong emphasis on equal opportunity to discover this exciting sport, the race is divided into 2 categories – “Slow & Steady” for beginners and “Fast & Furious” for professionals. This allows newbies to discover this sport at their own pace without feeling intimidated by the professionals. With more than RM20,000.00 worth of prizes up for grabs, teams of two competitors (men’s, women’s or mixed) race in a multi-disciplined challenge involving navigation, endurance, skills and guts. You will kayak, run, climb, mountain bike, and navigate your way around a course that's only revealed hours before you begin.
Competitors will be treated to a variety of events, finishing the day with an awards ceremony, generous random prize drawings, and a BBQ meal. Race entry fee includes all of the above, a goodie bag for each competitor, and an event shirt & cap.
This event is limited to a total 200 teams. Just like last year, we will keep a waiting list if racer interest exceeds these limits.
